Here's The Steeple! (Photo Friday)

Here’s the Church
Here’s the Steeple
Look inside and see all the people.

          A Childhood Rhyme

As a child we were always playing this game. If anyone remembers it would be a silly little hand gesture game. I loved this game and have been fascinated with steeples ever since.

It does not matter at what angle you look at a steeple you can always see something you missed.

This was taken in a little town called Saint-Polycarpe Quebec. A beautiful Roman Catholic Church in a beautiful little town.

I loved exploring the church inside and out. It had a cemetery behind it some of the stones dated to 1830. These would be the forgotten stones, they may have been damaged by vandals, or any number of reasons. This always makes me sad. They were just propped up behind the church.

  1. I used to play that game as well and my children loved it. It's funny some of these old games never grow old.
I really love old churches. They are usually very beautiful.

  2. I also love the churchyards, with their silent inhabitants sleeping in the protection of the church. What tales they could tell us!

  4. I played that game but we said as Here's the church...here's the steeple...open the door and see all the people....love old churches. I looked at an old one yesterday...wooden structure..Catholic. It was in such poor repair ...just pathetic. They have a visiting priest once a week...sign on the door. I can't imagine what little congregation they must have..but still they could keep it up ..made me sad.
