March Cometh!

Tossing his mane of snows in wildest
      eddies and tangles,
Lion-like March cometh in, hoarse,
     with tempestuous breath.
                     William Dean Howells

Well, our winter has finally arrived. It snowed all night and covered everything with a nice white blanket. Finally the browns, and the blacks, and the rust are gone, replaced by a shimmering new whiteness. It is like a good paint job for the farm.

I can no longer see the rust on the barn roof, where My Hero used to stand and balance with his drill and screws not so very long ago.

I can no longer see the muddy tracks in the lawn, where the tractor had ripped up the brown grass while wood was being thrown in the basement.

I can no longer see the muddy gravel dust that sticks to my Jeep like glue, from travelling down our old, in need of repair, muddy, gravel road.

I approve of this new paint job it is just the perfect shade of white. I could not have picked a better shade myself. Tomorrow if the forecast is right and I mean “IF”, we will be back to browns and blacks and rust colours. I will enjoy this day of new and remember it is March and spring is almost here.

The winter was a long time coming but I must say she does know how to make an entrance. I continue to watch from my window as she applies her second coat. Beautiful!

My prayers are with those of you who experienced a very devastating side to this winter storm. B

Later.

  2. Our winter never came...at least not yet. We are all springy and budding already! Enjoy your 'inside looking out' day with a fire and a hot cup of something. Maybe a good book. Is that your picture of today? My fantasy. However last year I bought a sled so I'll be ready...justin case real winter ever comes again. :)

  10. I totally agree, the white cover on everything is one of the best things about snow. Now if there was just a way to make it easy to drive in.

  12. I'm so not ready for our summer coming to an end. But suddenly it feels pretty cold so much so we have the fire going and pretty crazy weather. Can't believe we're going into autumn already!
