Vancouver Here We Come!

The wise traveler, the self-indulgent and the happy one,
is he who never looks at his time-table and hides his watch.
                    John Mason Brown

Well my friends this is goodbye for me. I am into crunch time as far as preparing for my big adventure. These next days will be filled with getting all the little details sorted out. I want to make sure everything on the farm will be running smoothly while I am gone. My Hero does not have time to deal with the little things, and Miss Mollee is a terrible cook. I would like to board that train with no lingering questions like; will he be OK? This will allow me to sleep easier while sitting up in that seat on the train.

I want to leave you with beautiful photos of these Swans drifting free in the fog. Maybe you could think of this pair of Swans as M and I, drifting free enjoying what this world has to offer.

We will take the train for those four days and nights through, I have heard, some of the most incredible scenic landscapes in Canada. This is a trip I have always dreamed of. I cannot believe it is finally coming true. Thanks M; you really have fantastic birthday ideas.

We will step off the train in downtown Vancouver and stay in this magnificent city for three nights, sleeping with a view of the mountains I love. We have no set plans, drifting free with only a few desires of what we would like to see and do. I would like to go to the Vancouver Art Museum and enjoy a special Emily Carr exhibit, and of course explore Stanley Park. M has some desires, and I want to show her all this city has to offer as this is her first trip there. I will remind her that this will not be her last trip because if she is like her Mom, and I think she is, the mountains will call her back.

We will take the ferry to Vancouver Island, the most fascinating 90 minute scenic ride I myself have EVER had the pleasure of experiencing. We will make our way to Victoria where we will stay for three nights, again with no plan except to see my Great Aunt who I have been waiting to see for five years. This will be one of the highlights of my trip. I am also positive, with the view of the Washington Mountains in the background, there will be early morning beach combing in Beacon Hill Park.

We will fly back to Toronto, with a brief touch down in Kelowna B.C., from the Victoria International Airport with a window seat to see the top of the mountains in the early morning sunshine (with any luck at all).
I am going to try and drop a few blog posts on my trip to share my excitement but, if that does not come about you can be rest assured there will be lots of photos and stories to share on my return. This may take a few more days as I may need a vacation to recover from this vacation but I will be back.

I am going to miss you all but; I am sure if you miss me you can always go back and read Our Journey posts and know this Journey is going to be a very different one for M and I.

I am so excited!  Bye for now, hope to see you soon.  Buttons

Later.

  27. I just love the way the necks of the swans and their shadows form a double ended heart. That is amazing. I rode the train from Seattle to Vancouver and back and had the nicest time. It is a lovely train. If only they were all like that one. Such a nice post. Have a great time. genie
