Blogger Queen for a Day!

Modesty is the only sure bait when you angle for praise.

Last Thursday evening and into Friday morning was an exciting time for me, to say the least. I logged on to my blog as usual Friday morning and I must say I was a little alarmed. I had over 1000 hits. 1000 people had actually taken the time to read my blog. I know for some of you this may be a normal thing, but let me tell you, it is certainly not for me. My first thought was that I had been hit by spammers and was questioning my very expensive virus/spam blocker thingy.

The great thing about Blogger is that you can see where all those hits are coming from; CLICK, Australia, well that sounds all right there are no spammers in Australia I have heard. Right?

I then clicked on the source, down---to---earth, this surprised me but I have always read and enjoyed this blog. Rhonda along with her husband Hanno live in Australia and she blogs about sustainability and making a very happy home. This is a well written interesting blog with great photos and I have learned important facts and tips on how to live frugally, how to make my own products, about being satisfied with what you have and most importantly about being happy with those choices. I have enjoyed this blog ever since I started blogging just over two years ago.

I then started to wonder why an award winning blogger with a best-selling published book, had people coming to my site. Maybe we had both been hit by those evil spammers. I clicked on her site and seen a very cute photo of Rhonda and Hanno, it was their Anniversary. OK that was lovely but, where do I fit into this? I read the page and seen that she had graciously provided a link to my blog for her readers. I could truly not believe she would take the time out of her successful busy life to link to my blog. I was flattered, and humbled to say the very least.

I went over to visit my Mom shortly after and told her my exciting news, I must say she is my biggest supporter and loves my stories. All she said was “I told you.” I was just so happy to hear her say that. She actually believed my Blog was always going to go big. She has always believed in this.

I truly love that my little blog is going places I had never imagined and am secretly awaiting that email for that book offer that my Mom keeps telling me will happen. She has always insisted on the first signed copy. You do know that saying “Mother knows best?”

OK I am sure you know those hits have dramatically dropped off now. Did I say dramatically? I must say it was fun dreaming about the possibilities. Sorry Mom, that houseboat with the awesome view, will to have to wait. Maybe next time.

Niagara Falls Ontario Canada if you are wondering.

Thank you Rhonda and Thank you Mom.

  12. What did I say a few posts ago? I don't remember exactly, but I think it had to do with a book. I love all the blogs I read, but there are some that are better written than others. And more thought provoking. And yours are both those things.

  17. It always provides a surge when a fellow blogger gives you a shout out...then the surge goes away but usually a new follower or two attach themselves. It's all good.

You make me think of things I never thought about, make me take five seconds to enjoy what is going on around me, or you take me back to plesant memories of my childhood.
