Broken Hearts and Silence on Tuesday!

Notwithstanding the sight of all miseries which wring us and threaten our destruction,
we have still an instinct that we cannot repress,
which elevates us above our sorrows.
                                 Blaise Pascal

I turned on the TV and there was a photo of a beautiful little girl with sparkling eyes and a huge smile, the photos continued. With every photo this deep sadness continued to grow. I turned the TV off.

This is a very sad time in what should be one of the most joyous times for all of us. My heart is broken and I cannot imagine how the families dealing with this will ever get through.

Every one of us has been touched by those unimaginable minutes on Friday. I am positive MY world will never be viewed in the same way.

I will post later on this week. I need to surround myself with others and all that is good and beautiful in this world.

My heart and my prayers are with all those struggling to get through this.

I, along with many of my fellow Bloggers will be participating in a day of silence on Tuesday to show our support for those families affected by the Sandy Hook Elementary School incident.

  14. It is a terrible tragedy, although not the first and probably not the last. A day of silence in support of the families is a good idea. I will join in.

  16. J heard the news Friday morn in the tractor. I didn't know until dinner time when he turned on the news. We watched the news and a little bit more Friday night.

I am with you, Miss B. I don't watch much TV and rarely watch the news. I have a hard time digesting all the drama and bad that the media feeds and focus's on.

I know there was a tragedy last Friday and the best thing I can do is send prayers for those who are dealing with this horrible experience. Maybe, the media needs to share the stories of the victims, helpers, and heroes. NOT the picture and dissected life of an individual that wanted/needed attention.

  22. It is so incredibly sad. Utterly senseless to kill innocent little ones. My heart goes out to them and to their families and to all at the school and neighborhood. A day of silence and ann curry's 27 acts of kindness that she started are both meaningful. Thank you for caring like you do, Buttons.

  24. and the most incredible thing- gun sales soared the day after! Why was there not a moratorium? Why are the mentally ill jailed and let go without care. Why are there no leaders who will stand? And now the media is chewing on it all like it is toffee. This is a very sick nation to be sure- and it seems to set the pace for others to follow.
