Beyond the Wire and New Boots!

When Nature her great masterpiece design’d,
And fram’d her last, best work, the human mind,
Her eye intent on all the wondrous plan,
She form’d of various stuff and Various Man.
                        Robert Burns

The sun is not up but I am; I sit here at my table waiting till it pops up and greets me with its beauty. The snow covers the ground, oh this is why I get out of bed there is nowhere else I would rather be. I can see the tractor tracks that I left behind yesterday in the undisturbed field of white, sometimes you just have to veer off course. I was tired of driving up and down the same path every day so decided to enter the field through the rail gate by the pump house. I must say this small change in my view excites me, seeing the tracks in the snow of my blank canvas always waiting to be painted into something different. The sun comes up as expected leaving the colours on the ground and hovering over those simple tracks.

This brings me to the change in my routine yesterday morning meaning my venturing Beyond the Wire.

The wire being the barbed wire just beyond the Sap House. A place I rarely go while wearing snowshoes, if only for the fact that it is hard to squeeze through barbed wire with them on without getting caught up. This day the snow had a nice crust on top so my “Pink Cadillac Boots” did not sink so I would not need to wear those snowshoes; the boots have a thick sole with great traction. I squeezed myself through that barbed wire being careful not to catch the cloth on my new Styling Black Coveralls. Whew made it. I look down at my “Pink Cadillac Boots”. This may be their last trip here.

I am remembering the email I sent to the Muck Boots Canada office in Alberta, suggested by many of you, my intelligent blogger family. I decided what did I have to lose? I actually sent them a link to my Blog Post this is really the only way I know how to communicate my feelings, you probably already know that. I was shocked that shortly after finishing my chores and coming in to check my email there was an email from an understanding and likes my humour man named Dylan who must have read that blog and now knew all about my (famous) “Pink Cadillac Boots” aka Muck Boots.

His email explained the fact that they do not usually replace boots that have been damaged by wear and tear but he thought my humour and my obvious attachment to these boots deserved more than the Goop fix suggested. He offered to send me another pair of Muck Boots Hot Pink of course. Well I do not have to tell you my answer. I emailed Dylan back my address, my size and thanked him probably more than he expected. My new boots are on their way.

I have to say I am so excited not only for the prompt incredible service and kind emails from the man with the sense of humour on the other end sitting in an office at The Original Muck Boot Company Canada but also knowing that when you pay for quality and expect it, it is to be found there. I do not mind spreading the word about this service and product and I want to thank Dylan at The Original Muck Boot Company for that. I look down to my "Pink Cadillac Boots" with the pink Vet tape and smile knowing I had truly made the right choice as far as boots go. I am no longer disappointed, they were worth the money.

OK enough of this gushing and now back to the mission at hand. Beyond the Wire is a magical incredibly beautiful undisturbed place where animals frolic about, where a Grey Squirrel as big as a Raccoon flies effortlessly from tree top to tree top with a huge nut in its mouth high above your head moving so fast you only capture the feet with your camera.

This is a place where you will see where ten Deer have bedded down snuggled in the Pines under a gigantic Century Maple tree safe and secure. A place where the dead trees are left standing keeping Woodpeckers happily pecking away undisturbed by man. Where dead uprooted trees create beautiful art and are not harvested for firewood because they are unreachable in the center of this wilderness with no path.

I was back in this magical place for two hours, I know that sounds like a long time but time has no meaning in paradise. OH I truly wish you could enjoy this with me. I climb back through that barbed wire carefully as not to tear my new Styling Black Coveralls, I trudge through the snow which has started to fall heavily and make my way back to the tractor waiting in the middle of the cows. Annie looks at me wondering if there will be more breakfast.

I love my life. I wonder how long it will take for my new Muck Boots aka Pink Cadillac Boots to arrive. Yes I do have a fantastic life. I will be back Beyond the Wire wearing them soon I hope, but I will be watching out for that pesky Prickly Ash. It is so easy to smile here.

  8. Kudos to Muck Boots! My husband loves his, and since I finally wore out my Dunlop gum boots, my next pair of boots will be Muck Boots.
I love the tree photos you post, the third one from the bottom looks like the fetlock joint on a very large horse. I love the tree roots, I would like to have that one in my garden with flowering vines winding their way through it.

  37. What an uplifting post! I am so excited for you to be getting your new boots, even more that the company has a person who appreciates you. I am going to be looking them up!

Your time in the woods sounds so much like my time around our woods...magical, and also makes me so thankful for where God has placed me. I suspect that if God had placed you & I in Suburbia though, we would find our little backyards magical and also appreciate what we have. However, I am very thankful He has allowed us to have room to roam, squirrels to know, and blogs to express the abundance of mercies & gifts this world offers. I love this post.

The Man and I were down in my back 40 this morning doing the same thing. We discussed whether other people would find it as fascinating as we do. Your post and the other responses sure answered that question.

So happy to hear the company is going to replace your Cadillac's! (Do you have to send the old ones back? They'd sure do well in the barn.)
