Thanksgiving on the Farm! (Random 5 Friday)

Best of all is it to preserve everything in a pure,
still heart,
and let there be for every pulse a thanksgiving, and for every breath a song.
                         Konrad von Gesner

It is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and I am so excited. I have family coming for dinner including my Mom, and my girls will be coming home for the whole weekend. Life is wonderful and I am grateful for so many things this past year. I thought I would share some random farm shots so you could see why the farm is such a popular destination this time of year for so many and hopefully you will smile along with us.

1-   These girls heard about the dinner somehow and were lining up kind of early. Actually I was cutting the lawn in preparation for the festivities and a very good friend pointed out that the smell of fresh cut grass was exactly like our attraction to the smell of hot buttered popcorn for these girls.

2-   Lately when I feed the girls they make funny faces at me as I stand in front of them with a camera. This is Bossy2, they are used to the camera thing but they just don’t understand the attraction. I am pretty sure you do.

3-   Annie cannot wait to see the visitors that are coming as she will come running when we call her name and she will be the center of attention and she knows there will be treats like wild apples if those taunting turkeys did not eat them all.

4-   Our own girls live in the city so when they come home we will hike out into the bush along with other Thanksgiving visitors and explore what Mother Nature has given us for free. This has become a tradition; eating turkey and then hiking seem to go together.

5-   My Mom will be able to see my progress on that knitting and tell me what a great job I am doing even though she has had to find a few of those stitches that keep escaping.

This is going to be an incredible weekend with extreme laughter, lots of hugs and giving thanks for this wonderful life we are so lucky to enjoy. Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends I am off to play in the leaves. This time of year it is difficult for me to stay inside ....incredible. Enjoy

Random 5 Friday

Hey Tess please don't forget that you are bringing that stuffed turkey with Mom's special dressing you know she as well as we love it. :)

  61. don't worry about those escaped stitches...every now and again, I'll still find a stitch that was left behind. I just fix it best I can... either tie it off, pull it up or grab a crochet hook and do a patch job. the love that went into making it doesn't diminish.
