Thoughts and Views from My Office Chair!

There are no uninteresting things,
there are only uninterested people.
                          Gilbert Keith Chesterton

Some of you right now are sitting behind glass in an office comfortably tucked in a chair and staring out while thoughts race through your mind; we all do that no matter where our office chairs may be located. It is once again Random 5 Friday with Nancy and I thought I would show you my view and share some of those thoughts from my office chair.

1-   Oh how I love my office, I at one time worked at a fiberglass boat factory as a carpenters helper and all I remember about the whole experience was that the windows were all frosted and I could not see outside. Even though I loved the people I worked with I could not get over that fact not to mention the smell which I must admit was a lingering unpleasant experience.

2-   While working as a cashier at fast food job behind the counter for hours and hours, years and years I could always see out the window and watch the heavy traffic and people pass by and thought that was not bad but longed to be out in the weather not trapped inside.

3-   When My Hero and I bought this farm and we jumped into big time farming I eventually quit my job. I loved the always being outside part, it was at that time the fall and as we know that is the nicest of weather if you live in a four season climate. The work was hard but the freedom was worth it. The winter having its many challenges still had me outside. It is truly the season I find the most beautiful. I have adapted to the changing seasons over the years.

4-   This year for some reason the weather has felt much colder to me. I guess these old bones have forgotten what a real Canadian winter is all about. I sit in my office chair (tractor seat) and do my work taking care of everything I can from this office chair until I have to climb down those steps and go hike through the bush and check the cows that are always happy to see me. I love that they need me as much as I need them. Have you ever seen cows smile?

 I have.

5-   Once I am outside in the weather I sometimes forget where I parked my office with that office chair after spending hours hiking through the deep snow while following the deer through the cedar trees but always smiling and enjoying every minute of this life I have been so lucky to have. Back in the warmth of my office I laugh out loud while maneuvering my office chair through those three foot snow drifts. Oh I love my job.

How about you, do you laugh out loud while sitting in your office chair?

  1. I do love the view from your office chair and got a good chuckle that you sometimes forget where it's parked! I've worked in cubicle environments where you can't see outside at all - yuck - it's a tough way to spend the day - especially in the winter when I came and left work in the dark. Now, my office window looks out on the quad of a university with the city beyond - I love it!

  2. I love this -- like you, I have many different "offices" and all have a great view of my world. Hugs. xo

  3. Hey Buttons ... Love this view from your office chair! Thanks for enlarging my borders just a bit this winter's morn!

  4. I love your office chair and although my old joints can't take the cold like they used too, I love being able to look out. xo Laura

  5. I must admit the views from your office really dwarf the views from mine :)

And yes it really has been much colder this winter. It's been the coldest winter here in KY in over 25 years!

  6. Your Office sure does have a lovely view, with you keeping warm inside, well hopefully.
It's dark here as it's 11.24pm, and yes, I have a shirt to iron :)

  7. When I did probation for 5 years I never had an office window. But they did let me paint my office, which helped a bit. I like your office view!

  8. FUN POST / glad you are enjoying your view! :)

  9. This was a simply delightful post. I enjoyed the view from your office chair and you've left me with something to think about, too!

  10. Great post and a gorgeous view (from inside!) Not sure I really want to experience a true Canadian Winter. Perhaps I am adapting too well to being a Southerner these days...

  11. Buttons, you have a mighty nice office!!

  12. I'm thinking back to the office chair I occupied before I retired. No window near me...tied to a computer and a phone all day...did I laugh much...not really. I sure did laugh the day I retired though...all the way through those big double glass doors and down the sidewalk to my car. Never looked back once (well, maybe to shudder).

  13. What a nice office chair. That cab would be nice and cozy this time of year, and I'll bet it feels good in the summer time too!

  14. This is a precious post!!!

Nahhh, I don't regularly laugh out loud, sitting in my plain, boring office chair, in front of my plain, boring computer desk.

But! If I look to my left, I can see out, from 2 den windows. I do that a lot.

And in front of me, above the cubbies in my desk, I see my well loved wall paper and well loved pictures, etc. So I'm not really complaining, about my "view."

But no static view, can compare with your constantly changing view!!!! You win, my Dear!!!!! :-)

  15. And it has been colder this year! It's not just our bones, complaining. It has been colder.

For myself, I'm going to hang on to that thought!!!!! :-)

  16. Yeah for you, Miss B!

When I worked in town I was in the basement of the Courthouse in a windowless office. Not good for one's mental health!

I don't think it is you, this winter has been colder than normal. -2* here this morn. I don't see the trees moving, so hopefully there is no wind.

Hope your weekend is just what you need it to be.

  17. Ooooo! You have a great office chair. What a great view from the window surround. :-D

Ugh! Fiberglass. Renoman used to work in a fiberglass plant. He didn't even work on 'the line' but came home every day smelling like it.

Your office is awesome. And so are you for knowing how to work it!

  18. I love the view from your office chair. Outside is always the better place to be!

  19. The view from your office is beautiful Buttons!! A lovely post!

  20. Your office has the best kind of view anywhere. This is my favorite type of office, too, and one I am thankful for everyday, my friend, just like you!

  21. i think the recent up/down weather cycles cause us to be caught off guard when 'real' weather decides to spend the season with us. :) we forget what it really feels like (whether harsh winter or harsh summer)

  22. Your views are the best! I have windows in my office at the newspaper that look out on the main part of the office, but I can't see outside. Sometimes I get up and walk around so I can see what the world and weather look like. At home, from my desk chair, I can look out on the backyard. And Chase Bird flits around, giving me something fun to look at. :-)

  23. I like your office chair. Great post and photos ! My office chair faces the back yard where I can see all the nature coming and going . More often then not I am out of my office chair and in the back yard with the nature or walking with my Miggs in the valley . Thanks for sharing . Have a good weekend !

  24. What a grand view you have from your office chair! I can't remember experiencing a winter as cold as this year's, but then I am an old lady, my memory isn't what it used to be!

  25. "I love that they need me as much as I need them"...I love that. Happy Friday B

  27. Does it count that I only laugh out loud when I look out YOUR office window? Mine is grey and unhappy. What a lovely office you have, Buttons.

  28. An office with a view is a must! No matter what kind of office it is. Love your photos of your view, and I hope you keep those cattle smiling! (Having grown up on a farm, I know what you mean. I used to help my dad with feeding on cold winter mornings.) Happy Friday to you!

  29. I like the view from your office chair, Buttons! Yes, I do laugh when I sit in my chir but I have to admit my view is not as great as yours. :)

  33. Well your "office" view is much different from mine for sure. We had snow this morning but it's gone already, just lingering traces. I'm so not a winter person but I did enjoy the little walk I took out in it this morning. Now your walks through the snow are much different and I must say you are braver then I would be. Loved that one shot with the light leading down the road. Very pretty.

  34. My view is quite different from yours, but I often do find myself staring out the window and daydreaming! I think this winter has been much colder for everyone and I'll be glad when spring is here :)

  37. You have the most beautiful view from your office chair! :)

  38. I was really fortunate...for the last 5 years in my job, my "office" was in my vehicle although we also had a "touch down" based in one of our branches!...:)JP

  39. How I love your office chair. :-) Especially your feathers sticking up jauntily from the dash. :-) I like the view from my office very much because it changes every day. Right now it's my cozy living room, in a few minutes it will be my garden, and then some old furniture I'm restoring. I'm no longer making heaps of money but my heart is SO happy in this place. :-)

  40. My favorite office chair is on the back of my horse. :) Like you, I could not be inside all day and look outside.
    I have seen a cow smile. :)
    Have a beautiful weekend.

  41. B,

I laugh every day and smile, it's a form of relaxation. Now that I'm no longer sitting in an office chair. I retired, and I'm enjoying life learning to be more self reliant.

  42. Love this, Buttons! It's great that the cows smile at you! They have grown to depend on you and know you will not disappoint them.

  45. Winter and I have come to an understanding...I have come to terms with winter. This year has been exceptionally cold though.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yes, I do laugh out loud in my office chair. I smiled a lot and even laughed reading your post. Love the view from your chair, although I don't think my old bones would do very well out in those elements. I have never seen a cow smile but I have seen one fly.
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  47. That is one very cool office chair! And yes I finally can laugh out loud from my office chair too...though it is actually a tractor seat on wheels in my little studio.

  48. Hi B, I love the views you see from your unique office chair, and I'm laughing out loud as I ride along with you :)

  49. You've got the very best kind of office. I'm glad tractors were finally designed with a relatively comfortable cab so the rider can be out of the weather and still enjoy the surroundings.

  51. We are blessed to have such beautiful office chairs.
In my space, one of them is on the second floor and looks out over trees and a trail through the bush. It is beautiful 365 days of the year. The other faces east across an open natural meadow. That's where the deer walk and the occasional grouse and turkey feed. Rarely a vehicle passes on the road way out on the horizon.

  52. I'd be staring out the window all day : )

  53. It is great to see and hear how happy you are with your job and your office. It sounds fun but I suspect hard, cold work.
I too love my office window, that is my study at home.I sit with the window open and the gentle breeze cools the warm air that soothes my skin.I look at a garden of native trees with their red bottle brushes hanging like bunches of grapes and the colourful parrots chatter as they feast on the nectar.
So different to your world and how good it is that we are all different. It makes life and blogging more interesting.
The only problem with my job (retirement) is that I don't get a day off. hee hee

  54. I love my job as principal at an alternative school. I love my children. I love to look out my windows and see them playing or thinking. Still it is a stress filled job. I just spent 2 weeks at home with my husband as he recovered from surgery and I looked out the window at the snowy woods. I think I would rather be at home, but I am not sad that it is the children I look at.

  55. Looks like you had a great day :-)
Wish we had some snow here in the Netherlands...

Hope you'll have a great Sunday

  56. Apparently this has been the clodest winter since time began though, so don't be too quick to blame the 'old bones'!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Much better than my basement office. Although I do only work 2 1/2 days a week, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

    ReplyDelete
  58. My favorite job had a large window, not far from the counter where we waited on customers. It looked out on a parking lot, but it sure beat the small, windowless offices I've worked in. I don't have what I can call an office chair now, but the birds and squirrels in my backyard do make me laugh.

  59. Hello B, I loved seeing your office chair and those beautiful, crisp views you have. No wonder the cows smile at you. They know you care for them :D)
