Techy Stuff!

People seldom improve when they have no other model but
themselves to copy after.
      Oliver Goldsmith

I want to say I am very techy oriented….. Yes I want to say that but honestly I am not. When it works I am happy when it does not I am not; simple as that. I am in the middle of a techy thingy right now and am wondering if I will be continuing on with my ignorance of techy stuff and pretend it will once again work itself out or actually  bite the bullet and admit I have no idea what to do and find a real Techy Person.

I have to tell you I am pretty good at fixing things oh yes I bet you did not know I once could lift up the hood of our old truck and place a clothes pin on the carburetor to keep it running daily, I know I know I am giving away my age here but I want you to understand I am no slacker when it comes to figuring out and fixing old techy stuff. Can we call that techy stuff or would that be mechanical stuff, huh, now I am not so sure.

Today I am once again struggling to write a post to share with all of you and my darn computer does not want me to write or share with all of you. It is not the internet thingy it is the computer thingy. All I keep asking myself as I once again change the font and pound (not pound but try to restrain myself from pounding) on the keyboard is….  Are you dying my poor computer? My sealed box of secrets and thoughts. The one thing in my life that holds all my dreams, my hopes my fears and my loves all written in a nice font and slipped into a place only I can find. Darn Techy Stuff.

I may have to go track me down a Techy Person and see if they can figure this thing out for me and that means they will be unwrapping thoughts and dreams of a non-techy girl who pretends she is a techy girl who hides secrets in a sealed box.

There may be an absence from Bloggerville which is going to be very hard on this girl who needs to share. She will be trolling the Blogger world visiting her friends on a tiny box that cannot hold her stories and reading others stories but until she can figure out this techy stuff there may not be any stories coming from here. Oh this is going to be hard.

I do hope someone can figure this whole techy thing out. I mentioned to My Hero this morning about the trick some farmers use (I use this trick a lot, My Hero need not know that) when fixing things and when other attempts failed, a last resort if I may add. The secret they do not always share with others. I am going to share it here today and hope farmers are not reading this.

Here I go……..Just give it one little tap with a hammer and it will work it out….just a tap. I may just have to try this…. either way I am thinking it is going to cost me money I do not have. Just one tap…..tempting.

If you are reading this I may or may not have given it “Just one little tap.” I hope to see you soon. Fingers crossed.

ps If you remember Leo (my camera) and I went to a Snowshoe Race on the weekend and I thought you may want to see what a Snowshoe Race was all about. Thank you Derrick for including me. Leo and my shots are Gallery #2, Gallery #1would be Sean's. Check it out here if you would like.

  1. I think I may be just as about as techy as you are, Buttons, so certainly do understand your frustration with your computer. Hope you can sort this all out quickly! My fingers are crossed!

  2. I sure do share your frustration...especially that this computer can make me so nuts sometimes..and I can't understand how to fix it. I do like your suggestion of a tiny tap..but I am afraid I would slam it just a bit too hard and break the durn thing.

  3. My famous techie fix is alt/control/delete lol. After that I try the 'delete everything you don't need' thingie. If that doesn't work I print everything I care about and call the tech guys. Hope you get everything straightened out.

  4. When things get really bad for me I turn the computer off and walk away. Then, after a day, I come back and see how things go. If it works I am very happy. If it doesn't at least I am in a better frame of mind for trying to figure it out.

  5. oops. I meant to add that sometimes the answer is right under my nose but I am too close to see it.

  6. Oh no! I hope you can get it fixed. I have a friend who is a whiz with computers, and he helps me out when I run into trouble.

If you blog through blogger it's self it could be that . I hope you can get it figured out . Thanks for sharing and please restrain from hitting it with the hammer that would a big mess lol !

  9. Miss B,
I hope all your techy things are a simple fix and you get it figured out.

I am not mechanical at all ... it eludes me. I am a little techy, as long as I turn on my devices and they work.

Headed out to do chores early and work cows this morning.

    Hugs my friend, hugs!

  11. Do you run good antivirus software? You may have a bug in there...
Other things you can do that may fix stuff...try backing up the important stuff (documents and photos or whatever) onto a thumb drive. Then reformat the hard drive, and reinstall a clean copy of the operating system. Add any other software(including antivirus stuff) you must have from the original discs, and don't add anything you don't really need. that should result in a cleaner running, less problematic machine.

  12. OK, does this mean that... Your trusty computer has become very slow? As with age, but also, perhaps with a virus?

I've been on a Mac for many years now, and forget all the "diddly-dos" of a Pc. But don't you have to do some sort of Clean Out of a Pc, now and then? If not, can't this cause troubles?

Pc people, please speak up here! Please and thank you.

    Gentle hugs,
    Tessa~

  13. Your computer doesn't want to let you post. Mmmmmmmmm, is this your computer or is it something on Blogger?

Have you maybe changed any Blogger Settings of late?

I know... No help from these quarters. -sigh-

My best advice is to find yourself a personal computer geek, on line. And run to him, with any-all your problems!!!! -chuckle- Usually works, for me. :-)))))

Oh but! DO NOT HIT! Pound your desk, but not, not, not your computer.

    Tessa~

  14. Uh oh.... Hammer + computer = really really broken.
I think you need a techy person. Best of luck!

  16. I do hope that you can figure out what is wrong with your computer Buttons. I would love to have a computer person in my family but alas, I do not.
Whatever you do, don't use the hammer. :-)

  17. Technological problems can be some of the most frustrating ever! I hope you are able to find a good solution to your problems.

  18. Back-up everything! Back-up everything! I got an external hard drive fairly cheap, and once a week, I back up everything. Saves a lot of stress when I think the computer is gonna blow!

  19. Well I know for a fact, hammer work really good on engine blocks, but I am not so sure how it would do on a computer. :) It might complain a bit. Your got your post up so I hope it fixed your woes.
Not a fan of computer woes at all.
    Have a lovely day.

  20. I think the tapping worked B ...can you hear me now ? :)

  21. Good luck. I hope you have your treasures backed up somewhere so they won't be lost.

I have two computers interred in the spare bedroom that hold secrets but they remain there, untouched, no working.

I am not a techie either.

  22. I do hope you can get some help. I am still trying to get my mind around people wanting to run in snowshoes.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh, dear! I know exactly what you mean when you peak of the importance of your computer! Good luck getting it fixed. I need to get an external hard drive for scary moments like this. Had one in November. I know I'm playing roulette without one. xoxo

  24. Oh I know how frustrating tech issues can be! They actually call it "techno stress." I think it is a real thing!

  25. I love my computer, when it works!!
    I am not techy.
Live your quote for the day :)

  26. So scary deep down to see the beloved computer acting ill and uncooperative!I'm right there with you, but I'm looking real hard at upgrading to a lap top. Problem is such a move opens up a whole 'nother Pandora's Box of techy problems and learning curves. Hope whatever solution you try works wonders and you get to go on your way blogging and reading blogs.

  27. good luck with the computer!

loved the snowshoe racer! holy smokes, that looks tough.

  28. I'm not a darn bit techier than you are Buttons, perhaps I should send you the mightiest part of my secret arsenal?
If a tall, thin fellow with a sweet smile and a thick Scottish accent knocks on your door one day...you'll know I did. ;-) *hugs*

  29. The tap must have worked - I've used that one, and I'm not even a farmer!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Egads! I wouldn't recommend even the slightest 'tap' with a hammer, Buttons. Remember, we need to hear from you on a regular basis! Nice photos, by the way!

    ReplyDelete
  31. i am challenged in that department as well!! i am old, my computer older, according to my boys ;)

everytime i turn to on i hold my breath!!

  32. I am soooo not a techy person! Like you, if it works...wonderful, if not...I'm lost! I hope you get the problems resolved soon because we would all miss your wonderful stories! :)

  33. I can fix somethings in the technical area. I hope you can get your computer fixed...take care my friend, Hugs M xx

  34. My techie is the kid up the street! Got thirteen year old neighbor? Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  35. You make me laugh...just tap it with a hammer! That sounds like a good farmer solution to me. :) I am not techy either, and when things go wrong, I tend to panic. My kids sit down and push buttons and move the mouse so fast that I can't even follow what they're doing. I feel really old when I tell them that there weren't even computers when I was a kid!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sorry to read about your stubborn computer.

A little tap just might fix it :O)

Over here in Australia, our Farmers can fix just about everything with a bit of fencing wire!

Good luck, hope it all works out soon - so frustrating for you :D)xx

  37. oh and p.s. I loved seeing all those snowshoe photos too. I visited via the links you provided :D)

  38. B,

Sometimes Blogger will act up like this for me and in a day or so things will calm down.

Also if your internet explorer did updates and changed the version you're running, it will mess with blogger functioning properly. Our internet explorer updated to version 11 and we had to change to firefox because blogger wouldn't function.

  39. Hope you can figure out what's going on with the computer. That race looks tough to do, great photo of the barn and blue sky.

  40. I hope the problem is solved soon without a wee tap of your hammer or costing an arm and a leg. This is a beautiful photo-the weather the action, doesn't even look too cold.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm with you on this one. Just one tap with a hammer! NO...just kidding...do not do that. I don't type all of my hopes and dreams in my computers, but I do put all of my pictures on them. I realized last year that nothing is 'safe' on these things so I do not delete my pictures off of those little disc cards anymore...unless they are of food and other such items. But family pics, I don't delete. Must back up Buttons, or print those dreams off. Tech stuff is never safe. Good luck.

  42. Computers are finicky things, aren't they? That's why I have two - when one is in the shop, the other is still here. (Lap top and old desk top). My lap top is in the 'shop' right now (Son's house). Hope you get things all figured out soon - computer withdrawals are no fun. :) xo Karen

  43. I have a tech issue too that I'm a bit scared of. But I swear that tap with a hammer works, you don't even have to be a farmer.

    ReplyDelete
  44. This is the first I've heard of a snowshoe race. Sorry to hear about your glitchy techy stuff. I have not attempted the hammer on mine, for I am not sure if I would be able to restrain myself to a small tap.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Nothing worse than a sick computer. Mine is suffering from old age and I too worry about it dying on me with all my secrets too. The snow shoe race looked hard work but lots of fun. Great shots.

  46. I love that old barn and the fence in the background - I want to play there for An hour or so, when the plants are starting to come up...
