It’s raining its pouring.......

A song will outlive all sermons in the memory.

                             Henry Giles

The old man is snoring….. That may be me because I have been exhausted lately and since I broke my nose a few years back I have been told, but I don’t know for sure, that I may have a little snoring problem. Show me proof of that then I will believe you My Hero.

he went to bed with a bump on his head…… Me again I managed to have a book fall on my head while cleaning and decluttering the other day. Let me tell you that is a bigger job than I thought, I love, love, love books and seem to have accumulated a mountain of them. I have now donated six or seven boxes of books and feel good about that but wonder if I gave something away that I will really miss and want somewhere down the road when I once again find the time to read. Oh well it is done. Gramma used to say “no use crying over spilt milk” OK Gramma I get it.

and couldn’t get up in the morning… Well let me tell you it was not so easy this morning with the rain pounding on my open window sprinkling water on the room I have not decluttered yet but will get to it, at least that is the plan. I have decided that this whole wedding thing and knowing people (strangers) will be coming to my house is a really good thing. I have been busy doing things that I have been putting off for years. The only problem being that after today the weather is finally going to change for us according to the weather reports and we may get to that whole haying thing. There will not be any time for anything then.

It’s raining…….I sit here this morning with my head full of ideas while watching the rain come down; lots of rain, staring at lots of unharvested hay makes for a very nervous farm girl. We should be at least two weeks into haying by this time and well on our way to getting it all done before the wedding but alas this is not the case. I can see the field where the tent will be standing and it is up to my shoulders in some spots and it smiles and taunts me saying nah nah.. nah nah nah. Well this may just be my imagination but could be true.

its pouring….The gardens and planters I have been preparing for the big day have been doing very well with all this rain, on the weekend I visited my very favourite church ladies and bought plants from their plant sale. Coleus is their name and they sure are pretty, I rushed home and planted them in the planters I have managed to fill with all sorts of flowery wonders and planted some in my veggie/flower garden, oh yes this whole wedding thing is working out for my gardening skills, I hope they don’t die.

the old man is snoring……..The peonies I picked with NDF to try an experiment are still hanging in the barn propped up on a ladder that My Hero has big plans for (I am still wondering about that one), I periodically go and take a look and I did spray a couple of bunches of them with dollar store hairspray and they are looking pretty good so far. Yes I am learning a lot of new skills because of this wedding thing but I grow weary.

he went to bed…. Oh I do like the sound of that but I honestly have a recurring dream that the guests all show up all dressed up all nice and pretty and I am standing in the barnyard surrounded by my cows, greasing the baler with the grease gun in my hand while wearing coveralls and those red cowboy boots I bought a long time ago for this wedding, there is no tent because the hay is still there and the fact was that I was so busy cleaning, gardening, haying and worrying that I forgot what day it was.

with a bump on his head ….. This is the part of that recurring dream where I fainted and ended up on the ground and when I woke up the wedding was completely over.

and couldn’t get up in the morning….. Oh yes I could, I have way too much to do.

It’s raining its pouring….. Yup still raining…………This wedding stuff is fun eh?

  1. Girl! You are making me nervous! Got all this stuff to do before the wedding and you are sitting there watching the rain!!! I would love to help you but I'm in the same boat, just no wedding. I can't get things done fast enough. About the snoring thing...I'll tell you what I did to my cousin. I turned my phone on video in the middle of the night, when she was snoring, and taped it! YUP I DID! When we were in Florida I was complaining because she snores all night long and LOUD! She denied it. Well guess what....she can't deny it anymore!

  2. we had a bit of rain last night. suppose to have thunderstorms today. i know my hubby snores. & big time. so loud & it is not consent ... it changes volume & then gets really quiet. it is wild! i guess he does it most nights. but i guess other nights i am dead to the world & don't notice. wish that was every night.

those roses look so different. are they dried?

can you work outdoors when it is raining? or do you get a day off?

i had a week of weird dreams & this week has been a week of no dreams. i wonder why our brains do that? so wild. my bro said he has not had a dream in years. probably 15 or more years ago his house with friends burnt to the ground. luckily they all got out with no problem but their belongs were all ruined. i remember how he smelled when he arrived to my parents house, i didn't know what to say or what to do. i made him breakfast. but i know he didn't eat it. i think he has a hard time going to sleep. makes him recall that fire night. he doesn't believe me but i think he won't get over it unless he talks it out.

wow, i have gone on & on. thanks, for listening. have a great day. rain is falling as i type. big big hugs. ( :

  3. Be very careful when clearing out things. My grandmother was a writer and had some of her poems published in a book back in the 40s. My brother had it. When his wife cleaned out the bookcase, guess what disappeared? I was sick, sick, sick, but the book wasn't discovered missing for serveral weeks. Neither of us remember the title or the author of the compilation book. It is gone forever. I enjoyed reading your post, as always.

  4. You could use a break!

It is so hard to get up on a rainy morning. The bed just feels too delicious.

  5. De-cluttering is such a good thing, Buttons! But I agree with Roan that you need to be careful. ;))

  6. So many plans and so much to look forward too. I would be a wreck, as I can never get things perfect around my place. I love the thought of splattered raindrops coming in an open window.

  7. oh oh!!!! the wedding is invading your dreams!!!! -giggggles-

  8. Miss B,
It will ALL BE OK! Just try to relax and enjoy the process.

I do hope things dry out so you can get in the hay field. It's dewy this morn and we are raking and baling on creek bottoms. So, we are not in a huge morning hurry.

The hay is good. The raked windrows are almost too big for the baler. J and his Mom worked on cutting oats yesterday. They are thick and tall; the best crop J has cut.

Our cattle will have good eating next winter.

  9. try not to stress out, but i do hope the weather clears so you can get to that haying!!!

  10. Oh goodness you've been working hard prepping for the wedding so maybe a little break to enjoy the rain isn't such a bad thing. Hoping it doesn't linger to long though :)

  11. Well, it will get here. Ready or not! I read your posts and think oh gosh, so glad it isn't me and the next three are boys. :)
Have fun, I wish we could trade, I would love to have your rain. :)

  12. You need to start delegating some duties...you have too much to do.

  13. Maybe you should put a huge tent (or tents) over the hay fields so they can't get any wetter, and bring in bunch of industrial driers to dry the hay, along with gas powered electrical units to run the driers.

On second thought, that sounds more complicated than planning a wedding. Forget that idea.

    Blessings and Bear hugs!

  16. I had dreams about our daughter's wedding five summers ago. I dreamed that we were still looking for a punch recipe while the bride and the bridesmaids were getting their hair done just prior to the wedding. You would have had to send me to the loony bin if we'd had the wedding here at our farm, though I agree that having guests is a good motivator. I need something like that because I can always find something I'd rather do than clean! (I love the old calendar photos, by the way!)

  17. You will come through this wedding with flying colors Buttons! Everything will be fine!!

  18. I am sure your daughter will appreciate all of your hardwork! I love that 1944 calendar, by the way! It is lovely. The rain has been pouring and I am enjoying a break from the humidity, your coat really heped me out en I had to walk the dog yesterday in the storm!

  19. Weddings are so stressful and so wonderful! You can only do what you can do, as my Gramma said. Enjoy!

  20. I think the cows would make an excellent addition to the wedding!
I'm sure everything will turn out beautiful! :)

  21. I'm sure the festivities will be awesome with your creative mind and planning. We begin wedding preparations next year...can't imagine the nightmares I will have because of it!

  22. Coleus are some of my favorites! Love their beautiful colors, even without flowers they're gorgeous. I can't believe it's still raining there...you must be soaked! I hope it soon dries off for you to get your hay in. Send us some of your rain, ok? We're getting a bit dry here.

  23. I hope you get your hay up soon. We have A supposed three day window , with no predicted rain-so hay is getting cut.
It has been a rainy summer.

  25. Tell yourself, like I have to tell myself when things get hectic--one thing at a time. One thing at a time.

It's raining here now. I hope it clears up soon so the haying can get done. I wish I could help!

  26. Lucky you...about the rain not the book and your head, of course! We are waiting patiently. Let's hope all the rain leaves you with great weeding weather!!!...:)JP

  28. B,
The sun will come out soon giving you and your Hero time to cut the hay.

I love your planters, they're gorgeous and will stand out perfectly come wedding time.

Take a deep breath, all will work out just perfectly....I know!!!!
When is the actual big day?

  29. That's a very fun and humorous post.

  30. Hope you get to accomplished in what you started. Sometimes decluttering can take quite a bit of time. And don't go losing something you may later regret. Weddings can be stressful but if you plan ahead, everything will fall into place by the time it arrives. Enjoyed reading your post today and looking at your wonderful photos!

  31. My granddaughter tells me I snore, but Hubbers says she is making that up!
Can't wait to see pics of you in those red boots at the wedding.

  32. Wish I could come up and help you Buttons, but I have complete faith that you'll 'git 'er dun'!

  33. You sure have a lot on your plate at the moment but still your sense of humour reigns.

  38. ouch poor you!! i love to sleep when it rains though...we had quite the downpour the other day...more storms coming today i've heard!

  39. Your incredible sense of humour including that very active brain of yours, will make that wedding look like a walk in the park: the price: all the worry before...well since i believed you are loved by many any disaster occur, they'll all ship in, you are loved, quit worrying...

    ReplyDelete
  40. I sure don't want you stressing . . .
    but I sure was entertained with your . . ."Rain, rain . . ."
I do hope the rain stops, it gets dry enough to get the haying done, time to set the tent, and celebrate the wedding couple . . .
(Getting ready for a wedding is high on the stress chart!)

  41. I'll be humming that tune all evening , an oldie but goodie.
The book of knowledge was it ?
Sound like a lot on your plate lately Miss B. ~ wedding cake I am craving that right about now.
What is it with us farm girls and broken noses , did that myself several times over the years , yup a nose with character I have !
Hope things dry off and you are haying in a nice breeze soon.

  42. Weddings always add stress for me... as to the books, that is probably the one thing I can never seem to stop accumulating. I love to read and study. They come in easy and going out is hard... I culled my 'library' many times and then wouldn't you know needed the into in such and such book, and it was gone. Now out of print, if I can find a used copy on eBay I'll buy it... sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  43. You are just having anxiety...I remember that so well with my kid's weddings..but it all worked out fine and this one will too! The rain will quit, the sun will shine, the hay will get cut...I don't know what you have to do in the house, but that will get done too. I have faith in you! :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh gosh! I am "trying" to declutter, too!!!!
    It's overwhelming!

  45. Oh Buttons - your dream is so perfect, isn't it? Dreams always show us the absurdity of all our worries....Don't worry, everything will fall into place. We had a wedding here for my daughter years ago - it was a crazy time leading up to it, but it all worked out. You have to have faith - your hay will be harvested, the barn will look beautiful, the house will be clean, and you will be so proud. xo Karen

  46. oh dear. we are very wet here too. the fields are full! but your guests will understand. just be sure to tell them it's a goulashes optional affair.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I love how you use humour to cover the stress you must be feeling, but you also have to let yourself feel it, and get through it--and you will.

The rain will stop, the chores will get done, and it will be a lovely wedding.
