Pullover….Stop…. Breathe In….Exhale….Ahhhh.

Gratitude is one of the least articulate of emotions,
especially when it is deep.
                           Felix Frankfurter

This time of year everyone is running around “Like a chicken with” (well you know the rest), as my Grandma used to say.

The cars race by me, speeding down the highway as I sit on the shoulder. I had to pull over, I just had to. The lone occupants driving those vehicles are mostly on auto-pilot. They are probably thinking about getting to work in the city as fast as they can, so they may return home at sundown to spend time with their families.

There is not one flake of snow, or any sign that there will be any falling here in our near future. It is hard to believe that it is almost the Christmas season. It has its advantages though. It has been so easy to get things done on the farm with this nice weather. Our cows have also been enjoying the extra grazing time.

My being away for so long while visiting the city, and away from the farm, does not appear to have hampered the progress in getting ready for the winter. My Hero, and Uncle Dios have been very busy working. Thoughts of all they had accomplished while I was gone fill my head. As I sit here on the side of the road, taking in the beauty of a beautiful sunrise, forgetting all the rushing around I have to do to catch up I am grateful.

I am so grateful for a woodshed full of wood. So grateful for this incredible view, extremely grateful for my busy life, loving family and good friends and grateful for knowing when I need to slow down. To just stop, breathe in and
then exhale.

  2. We cant stand the roads at Christmas time always so crazy especially in town or the city but out here it is quiet as ever traveling the back country roads . We didn't have snow for the holidays but we just got a snow storm last nigh that left us with a little snow very cold and blowing winds to ! Glad you made all ok over the holidays in the crazy traffic . Yup that's why we love our nature filled quiet beautiful valley cause we slow down and breath all the beauty in and exhale the happy from it . Thanks for sharing lovely photos have a good week !

  5. I think we should all slow down this time of year as soon as winter arrives. It's time to ponder our gratitude and just breath deeply and slow down.

  7. fabulous shots of the sunset and for some reason that they were taken from the side of the road as you breathed :-) makes them all the more appreciable maybe even lovelier.

  14. Grace, it is indeed important to just pull over (literally and figuratively,) take a deep breath, and enjoy the surroundings. This has been a strange winter. I was grateful for the good travelling weather around Christmas and will wish for those days when we have to go to Toronto with our son, but when I'm home, it's nice to have the colder weather and the snow. Basically, I'm grateful for whatever I have and try not to lose sight of how lucky I am.

  15. Your advice is basic. ..breath in ..exhale. It works wonders. You remind us that there's lots to be thankful for.

  17. We have a light skim of snow, just enough to lightly coat everything in white.

  22. I would have had to pull over too! Gorgeous. We got hit by snow last night. Only the second time this year so I can't complain. But I don't have to like it!
