Hope found among the Blogs

The prophet of despair gains a shouting audience.
But one who speaks from hope will be heard long after the noise dies down.
                                  John La Farge

Well, the good news is that I can now sit. I never thought that would be such a big deal, but it truly is. The first thing I did was to think about of all of you out there. It is such a busy time of year for everyone, and I know you are all running around enjoying this time. I also know that many are not, for various reasons.

I have had a lot of time to think. Since I have been housebound and sleeping in a lazy boy chair for this last little while, that is all I can really do. This may be a bad thing. Here are some of my thoughts.

There is so much that has happened, and is still happening in the world right now. I will not get into this. The news reports, that run twenty-four seven, if you let it shows us enough of that. It is important that we know what is going on in the world. If we hide from it, our fears grow in my opinion. We should know but we should not dwell on it. The world, I believe is full of more good, than not, and I think we need to focus on that today.

Last night, as I slept in my lazy boy chair in my kitchen a soft sound woke me up. I opened my eyes to see twinkling lights all around the window which erased the darkness. Those twinkling lights were like an artist canvas. A constantly moving canvas that kept evolving into something different and where every second had me wanting more. Fireflies filled the air, and the crickets serenaded this girl sleeping in a chair. A girl who I must admit had been feeling sorry for herself. To think that she was the only one going through something difficult. How dare I.

There are so many people dealing with so much, right now. Good people, going through bad stuff. We all know this, and we all know many of them. My thoughts in the middle of the night while I watched that moving canvas were very clear. Everyone needs to know they are not alone. We can make this happen.

One happy post, with pretty pictures in what seems to be a crazy world right now, may change someone's day. In a world, where people that we do know, and people that we do not know who are going through events in their lives that they have no control over can look at those pretty pictures, and know the canvas will change.

Just like those fireflies that came to visit me in the middle of the night. That little gift of light which danced across the sky, where only darkness had been, had given me hope. I do not know if you will get this, but I believe most of you that have read my stuff over the years probably will. We are not alone in what we are going through. There is hope everywhere, and we just need to open our eyes to see it.

I want to thank my fellow bloggers who post those uplifting, happy, and full of beautiful words and images posts. This is exactly what the world needs right now. I know it works.

So, my blogger friends keep posting those pretty pictures and write those funny posts. Share it with the world. I am positive that we all need that right now. Someone living somewhere will smile, and that is a very good thing.

If you are wondering about all the tree photos; well, they make me happy, and I do know it will work for many others out there.

  3. I love the fireflies of summer, too. I tried to capture their light last summer with a video on my blog, but they just wink on and off so quickly that it's hard to translate to film or video. So we will just have to keep enjoying them in person.

I'm glad to read that you are feeling better! Continued healing to you!

  5. An excellent post Buttons! My thoughts exactly. Being aware of what's going on in the world but staying hopeful, positive, and finding beauty in nature or elsewhere is key. Those fireflies sound magical.

  7. I like the sentence about more good than bad in the world. I think there's 90% good but it's not noticed or celebrated. I hope you get well soon and can be active again.

  8. I'm so very glad to hear you are feeling improved!! We never know how helpful our words might be to someone! Sometimes I have to work on my mood during times like these, and give it a day or two before I return to what I've done previously. - xo Nellie

  11. Great post B. I have also enjoyed the fireflies these summer nights but haven't heard the crickets yet. It is good to look for positive beauty and images in this world so filled with terrible news. I'm glad to know you are doing a bit better. Take care and have a good week ahead.
    Blessings,
    Pam

  12. What a wonderfully uplifting post! It can be so easy to let the bad get us down, but life is so much better when we focus on what is good and right and beautiful.

Love your trees. They look peaceful and it would be cool standing in their shade.

May you continue to feel better with each new day. Love, hugs & prayers ~ FlowerLady

  15. I wish we had fireflies at altitude! Think of me briefly when you see them again - maybe I'll receive a flicker. Hope you heal day by day. It's good that you're finding positive things to pull you through this hard time.

  16. My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.
    Trust in Him at all times, O people;
Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Psalm 62: 5-8

  17. B,

God provides us with gorgeous scenic views of the countryside, animals, and bugs (fireflies).
All of which provide us with wonderful messages of love and joy. I'm happy to hear you're doing somewhat better. Take it slowly my friend, and give your body time to heal. Sending hugs and love your way.

  21. Good that you are able to sit, that must mean things are improving? I have spent many nights in the lazy boy chair with the MS. Firelies are such a joy aren't they! Beep and I watch them at night when she sleeps over. They are a vision of hope for us. Her dad,(my SIL) was diagnosed with MS 4 weeks ago. We are planning to do a painting of the fireflies sometime this month, for her dad, for me, for all that need to catch a glimpse of the light during a time of darkness.

  26. You're right - it can be so hard to think of how lucky we are when things are tough. I have to try to remember this when things are really horrible.
