Preparing
for my trip away has been going well or so I thought. You all know I had
finally convinced Annie there will be no more delivery from the cute delivery
girl and she seems to be dealing with that pretty well so My Hero has informed
me. The cows have now been eased into night feeding instead of day feeding so
that My Hero will be able to feed them after work while I am gone and not have
to rush out in those dark early mornings to feed them before his “real job” and
they seem fine with that so he has informed me.
Why I am I
going by what he is saying you ask; well it seems there has been a wrench
thrown into my plans my body has been invaded by an unwanted force of nature or
beast that had crept in during the night while I slept and decided to stay.
My head
feels like it has been hit with a bowling ball and I am one of those lovely pins.
I was never very good at bowling so if it had of been my turn to throw I would
have missed my head completely and the ball would be in the gutter and I would not have had to be
searching the store shelves on Friday looking for industrial strength body
invader killer just to cure myself so that I would not miss going away and
spending time with my girls. Drat.
I rested
most of the weekend trying not to exert too much of the little energy I had
well except for the one trip with My Hero to the feed store to get salt for the
cows and find a tire for the baler. I know it is not even close to haying time
but “We must think ahead” I am told and they were on sale. Speaking of head
OUCH, I lean on the side of the truck and try not to notice the beautiful barns
that pass by my blurry eyes and try not to think of how I am going to walk
around a feed store with this body that has failed me miserably.
I know you
are asking yourself why I did not just stay home and sleep and let My Hero go
by himself…… I guess my only answer to that question is that I like spending
time with him and I am going to be leaving him for over a week (still hoping)
to fend for himself so maybe a little guilt. He convinced me while I was
staring into his deep brown eyes (works every time) that I would not have to do
anything only rest and enjoy the view. I think he feels a little guilty for
inviting this beast into our home in the first place. I must admit it was a
lovely drive, except for the pounding headache, aching body, plugged ears
requiring the word “What” over and over in our conversation. Yes it was a
lovely drive.
We did make
it to the feed store and I did drag myself into the drugstore next door to it
to see if they had any stronger industrial strength body invader killer, which
by the way had many coughing, snivelling body invaded people searching the
empty shelves for the same thing, apparently there was a sale and it was all sold out. I dragged myself out the door empty-handed and headed into the feed store
to find My Hero standing and staring at an empty wall where those baler tires
should have been sitting. I guess everyone was thinking ahead to haying season too
and heard about the sale. Drat. He threw the salt in the cart and we made our
way back to the truck. I collapsed in the seat. I am pretty sure by this time I
knew I should have stayed in bed.
We drove back down the highway and I listened
to the muffled sounds of My Hero trying to convince me I would be better by
Easter Sunday and I would still be able to go see our girls. I closed my eyes
and found myself dreaming about baler tires being tossed down a lane at my head while I stood under water and some of them not landing in the gutter, with big empty bottles of industrial
strength body invader killer cheering from the side lines.

ReplyDeleteBe well! Spring and better times are on the way....:)
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the time I convinced my husband I wasn't too sick to go hunting with him. My fever was raging. He ended up leaving me in a meadow, where I watched antelope and a wonderful parade with clowns and elephants. Did I mention raging fevers make you hallucinate? He came back took me home and put me to bed. I so hope you get better soon so you can spend time with your daughters. At least you have time to recover.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're not feeling well...I hope and pray you're feeling better before your trip to visit with your girls.
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon and I'm sending a virtual hug your way.
Marissa
